Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple is one of the 108 Divya Deshams (holy abodes of Lord Mahavishnu). Managed by the Travancore royal family, the temple is situated in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. Thiruvananthapuram literally means the abode of Lord Sree Padmanabha.

The Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple at Thiruvananthapuram is a famous holy abode of Lord Vishnu. Among the rituals and festivals held here, the lakshadeepam is the most notable. In Malayalam lakshadeepama means one lakh lamps. As the name suggests this is a festival of lamps and is held only once in six years.
